Manhwa Monday: Quick Stop

Welcome to another Manhwa Monday! Those of you who follow my blog regularly will know that I just finished moving, so this week’s column will just be a quick overview of some recent reviews.

This week’s featured review comes from Erica Friedman at Okazu as she talks about volume five of Youngran Lee’s Click (NETCOMICS).

It’s been both entertaining and informative to watch Erica make her way through this series, but this review is undoubtedly my favorite, mainly due to her ability to effectively describe the story using rice crispy treats as a metaphor.

“Rice cereal – marshmallow treats are harder to mix together than you’d expect and not all that pliable,” she says. “And the characters in Click are much the same.” Check out her review for more!

Elsewhere in the blogosphere, Andre takes a look at volume three of Sugarholic (Yen Press) at Kuriousity, and Ongaku talks about volumes one through six of Hissing (Yen Press) at Panikku (warning: major spoilers).

Also, it was recently brought to my attention that I’ve missed out on a number of manhwa reviews from Lori Henderson at Manga Village. Here’s a rundown of what we’ve missed out on: Jack Frost (Yen Press), volumes one and two; Raiders (Yen Press), volume two; and Time and Again (Yen Press), volume one.

That’s all for this week!

Is there something I’ve missed? Leave your manhwa-related links in comments!

Glad to hear the move went smoothly, Melinda. I’m impressed at your ability to continue posting through the chaos, all while launching a new writing project! Maybe you can give me some time-management lessons, because my brain hurts just contemplating all that mental/emotional/physical activity.

One quick addition to your review round-up: I posted a brief assessment of the second volume of One Fine Day last night. Here’s the link: http://mangacritic.com/?p=4480. Cheers!

Thank you, Kate! I managed to catch this for my Boston critic-roundup, but had missed it last night when I was collecting links for this column. I’ll put it in next week so it can get its full due!

As far as time management, though… wow, I really feel like I suck at it lately. Heh. It might look okay on the outside, but I promised two reviews last week I never managed to finish, so I’m feeling pretty down on myself in that area this morning. Thanks for the praise—it helps a little. :)
