SEAN: There are a bevy of choices this week. I’m tempted by an English edition of Master Keaton at last, or the new yuri title Citrus. But I will go with Love at Fourteen as my pick of the week. It’s the story of two childhood friends, both mature for their age, who are dealing with love and everything that comes from it. The magazine it runs in, Rakuen Le Paradis, is one of Hakusensha’s best new titles, technically being shoujo/josei but really more ‘sui generis’. I cannot wait to read this.
MJ: I am decidedly with Sean this week. Though there are a number of titles on my radar, the one that intrigues me most by far is Love at Fourteen. Everything about this title sounds like exactly what I like best in a manga, and I am a bit ashamed that I didn’t even realize it was on the way until this week. Now I can’t wait to read it!
MICHELLE: I’m in the opposite camp! I did know Love at Fourteen was coming, so the one I wasn’t aware of until recently was Master Keaton. I really love Naoki Urasawa, so I am super excited to read this one!
ASH: I’m with Michelle this week. While I’m interested in Love at Fourteen, my pick absolutely goes to Master Keaton. Urasawa is one of the reasons I developed such a healthy obsession with manga, so I’m very happy to see more of his work being released in English.
ANNA: I’m also with Ash and Michelle! A newly translated Urasawa series takes precedence over everything in my mind!
What looks good to you this week?

December 16, 2014 at 1:19 pmI ordered Master Keaton from the RightStuf sale, half off! And my comic shop hasn’t gotten it yet (or Real 13 or Assassination Classroom, hopefully in the new year). I really do like the anime though, so this was an obvious buy for me. But I think everyone keeps forgetting: Urasawa didn’t write this, he only drew it. Urasawa claimed later on that he wrote it all too, and the author couldn’t fight back because he was already dead, so it rather makes me dislike Urasawa as a person. Frankly, I don’t think Master Keaton feels like an Urasawa writing, so I’m going with the other guy being the one who wrote it. As a result though, Urasawa’s name appears bigger on the cover (though, since he is more well known in America than the other cover names, it makes sense over here).

December 16, 2014 at 2:56 pmAh, I wasn’t aware of the controversy over the authorship of Master Keaton; that’s interesting to know. (And hopefully Real arrives soon!)

December 16, 2014 at 1:22 pmVery interested in both of these titles. I’ve been reading 20th Century Boys lately and have found it absolutely phenomenal so am very interested in more Urasawa. Whereas Love at Fourteen sounds incredibly sweet and interesting.
& a quick FYI; you’ve bolded the wrong title in Ash’s pick.
