Life is a pretty weird thing, and it’s rendered me largely unproductive in the past couple of months, even here on the internet, where I am usually able to ramble on without rest. In April, I took a tour of the midwest for the latest round of FP auditions, which was a pretty nice trip. Not only did we see a lot of very talented folks, but I also got to meet up with a friend in Indianapolis the evening before my flight home, which was a wonderful bonus! May brought me to auditions in New York, where I also visited with a friend during her last week in Manhattan, and had dinner bought for me by another friend in honor of my birthday, which was the next day.
Speaking of birthdays, mine was filled with manga (glorious manga!), including the elusive Maison Ikkoku volume 3, which for some reason is impossible to get, and Banana Fish, volumes 8-19, which makes my collection complete! That story is so riveting, I read all my new volumes in the course of a couple of evenings, leaving me spent and sobbing, which was an incredible birthday treat. Yes, I love it when they hurt me. I won’t lie.
In other manga news, I’ve also started Chobits (volume 1), which I enjoyed a lot more than I expected. I’ll be a fully-fledged CLAMP fangirl any day now. I tried to get into One Piece, which hasn’t really worked yet, and I picked up the second volume of Basara, to give that series a little more time to grow on me. I know well enough that it often takes a few volumes. Mostly, though, I keep re-reading all my volumes of xxxHolic. I noticed new details every time, and the material just does not get old for me. I’ll probably write more about that here soon.
Signing off for now.
