Manga Bookshelf

Discussion, Resources, Roundtables, & Reviews

October 4, 2009 by MJ 12 Comments

Welcome to Manga Bookshelf!

Yes, you’ve reached the new home of MJ’s Manga Bookshelf, formerly There it is, Plain as Daylight. Nothing is changing over here except for the new matching name and URL, so please continue to join me for my manga reviews and discussion!

My new RSS feed is can be found here. Please note, too, my updated e-mail address.

You may find things here that still point to the old blog. I’m updating them as quickly as possible. Please let me know if you encounter any difficulties. The old blog will definitely remain but mainly for personal use, so please adjust your links to keep up with all things manga!

Thanks, and welcome to the newest chapter in my blogging life!

D’oh! I just posted a new review to the old site, totally forgetting that I knew you were switching over. Let me know if you need me to re-enter it into the system.

Otherwise, great-looking new blog, Melinda! :)

No worries! I’ll just go over there and fetch it. :)

      Thanks, Lorena!

In honor of your new blog, I’m coming out of the woodwork as a long time lurker!

I really love your reviews-in fact I often feel that I haven’t fully appreciated the latest volume of Nana until I’ve come over and read your review of it! The same goes for many other titles that you review as well.

    Happy New Blog!
    Sarah

Oh, I’m so pleased! Hello! Of course now I feel particularly guilty about having fallen behind on my NANA reviews. I should be posting the review for volume 18 this week!

Thank you so much for emerging from lurkdom!

Dog sap that I am, I’ll miss your old banner, but I think the new name will make your great reviews even more accessible to browsers.

I miss it too. :( But without the old name, it just didn’t make any sense at all. I have to admit that the primary motivation for keeping the old blog as a personal blog is to be able to keep using the Lucydog banner. :) Hopefully I’ll eventually find something to use for a banner here that I’ll like just as much.

I like the bookshelf header. I keep wanting to do a header of some sort for my scanlation blog, but am not really sure what to do.

Hmmmm yes, I was lucky that my site name, at least, gave me a pretty clear mandate. Heh. Though honestly, I think it would be better if it was a drawing instead of a photo. Unfortunately, I can’t draw.

Mazel Tov, Congratulations, and good luck!

I launched a new domain 15 months ago so I know exactly what you’re about to go through. It looks like you’ve a stronger position to build on, though (and your archives are intact, and saved to an account you control… breakups, even amicable breakups, can get messy) so past getting everyone to update their links, you should be OK.

I’ve added your new URL to what-passes-for-a-blogroll on my site — I vacillated between the adjectives ‘favourite’ and ‘trusted’ in the description, and settled on Trusted.

I look forward to many additional years of your writing, *Ms. Beasi*, and wish you and your new site well.

Well, wow, I’m quite touched by the description and the fact that my site is even included along with the others there! Thank you, Matt! :D

And yes, I think my domain switch will probably be relatively painless overall. There was some difficulty in the transfer of all the archives, but only in the technical sense, thankfully. It’s a nightmare to have to deal with moving things to/from a place someone else controls, so I’m grateful that was not my situation.

Anyway, thank you very much for your good wishes and kind words!
